Aus dem Nichts an die Spitze – Doctor Doctor hieß ein großer Hit der glohreichen Briten UFO auf ihrem ersten Hard-Rock-Album (1974). Und nun haben die jungen Wilden Doctor Victor aus Tschechien dieses Zepter übernommen. Drei Männer aus Prag sind zurzeit eine der angesagtesten Rock-Blues-Bands Mitteleuropas.
In Prag trat das Trio 2016 als Unterstützer von AC/DC vor 60.000 Fans auf. Und seitdem spielen sie regelmäßig und weltweit mit den Schwergewichten der Szene. Die Liste ist ellenlang, auf einige kommen wir noch in diesem Portrait. Doctor Victor wurde 2012 von Sänger, Komponist und Multi-Instrumentalist Vojtěch „Victor“ Bureš gegründet, einem Absolventen des Jaroslav-Ježek-Konservatoriums in Prag und Stipendiaten des Berklee College Of Music in Boston. Er kam praktisch aus dem Nichts, vorher hatte er kurze Spuren bei Wanastowi Vjecy hinterlassen. Seine Mitspieler heißen Pete (Bass) und Tom (Schlagzeug). Beide singen auch und über sie gibt es keine detaillierten Informationen, ähnlich wie beim aktuellen Schlagzeuger von Gong. 2013 Gewinn des Wettbewerb Hard Rock Rising in Tschechien, 2014 die tschechische Ausgabe Global Battle Of The Bands, beim weltweiten Finale in Chiang Mai (Thailand) Platz 2 und im April 2014 waren sie schon auf dem Titelblatt des tschechischen Magazins Muzikus. Im März 2016 erschien das Debüt 1st Prescription, auf dem Victor alle Instrumente selbst spielte, schon zwei Monate später standen sie in Prag mit AC/DC auf der Bühne. Es ging weiter Schlag auf Schlag, 2017 die Music Is My Drug-Tour durch Tschechien, ihre erste Tournee durch UK und Mitarbeit bei Titel My Baby von Nazareth-Sängers Dan McCafferty. 2018 wurde ihre Single StandUP als einziger Rocker für den tschechischen Vorentscheid zum Eurovision Song Contest ausgewählt. 2019 weitere Touren durch UK und US, das Lied Can't Stop Rock’n’Roll erreicht das Finale des John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Zu Beginn der 2020er initiierte Victor die Projekte Doctor Victor Music Academy, fördert damit aktiv junge Musiktalente und MusicBus, eine mobile Initiative zur musikalischen Bildung, die sich auf Workshops und Live-Auftritte für Kinder und Jugendliche in ganz Tschechien konzentrierte. Englisch Version: Rising from obscurity to the top — "Doctor Doctor" was a major hit for the legendary British band UFO on their debut hard rock album (1974). Now, the young, wild Czech band Doctor Victor has picked up the torch. This Prague-based trio is currently one of the hottest rock-blues bands in Central Europe. In 2016, they performed as the opening act for AC/DC in Prague in front of 60,000 fans. Since then, they have regularly played alongside the scene's heavyweights around the globe. The list is incredibly long; we will mention a few of them later in this profile. Doctor Victor was founded in 2012 by singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Vojtěch "Victor" Bureš, a graduate of the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague and a scholarship recipient at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He emerged virtually out of nowhere, having previously made brief appearances with the band Wanastowi Vjecy. His bandmates are Pete (bass) and Tom (drums). Both also provide vocals, though little detailed information is available about them—much like the situation with Gong's current drummer. Their achievements include winning the Czech leg of the Hard Rock Rising competition in 2013 and the Czech edition of the Global Battle of the Bands in 2014 (where they also took second place at the global final in Chiang Mai, Thailand); by April 2014, they had already graced the cover of the Czech magazine *Muzikus*. Their debut album, *1st Prescription*—on which Victor played every instrument himself—was released in March 2016; just two months later, they were sharing the stage with AC/DC in Prague. Things moved rapidly from there: the 2017 "Music Is My Drug" tour across the Czech Republic, their first UK tour, and a collaboration on the track "My Baby" with Nazareth vocalist Dan McCafferty. In 2018, their single "StandUP" was selected as the only rock entry for the Czech national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. 2019 saw further tours of the UK and US, and the song "Can't Stop Rock’n’Roll" reached the finals of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. At the start of the 2020s, Victor launched the Doctor Victor Music Academy—actively fostering young musical talent—and "MusicBus," a mobile music education initiative focused on workshops and live performances for children and teenagers across the Czech Republic.
